Are you having trouble finding death records for that elusive ancestor? On Thursday, November 3 at 7:30 at the Severna Park United Methodist Church, 731 Benfield Road, Severna Park, Maryland, Tina Simmons will offer information about sources of death records such as death certificates, obituaries, and Bible records as well as sources that might not come to mind when attempting your research.

Christine “Tina” N. Simmons has been researching cemeteries and records of deaths and burials in Anne Arundel County for the past 25 years.

Tina is a board member with both the Anne Arundel Genealogical Society and the Coalition to Protect Maryland Burial Sites.  In addition to locating cemeteries and copying tombstone inscriptions, she researches other sources of cemetery and burial records such as death certificates, funeral home records, and obituaries.

Her numerous publications include Northern Anne Arundel County Maryland Cemetery Inscriptions, available from the Anne Arundel Genealogical Society and Index of Anne Arundel County, Maryland Death Certificates, 1840-1920 from the Genealogical Publishing Company.

Tina currently lives in Prince George’s County but still spends most of her time in Anne Arundel County. She holds annual public Cemetery Inscription Days to copy inscriptions from tombstones and markers; assists with community service projects; acts as a consultant with government, community, and historical groups; and volunteers at the Maryland State Archives working with the Family Search project.
