St. Mary's Church Civil War Genealogy

Severna Park United Methodist Church, 731 Benfield Road, Severna Park, MD

Robert Worden has spent the last seven years compiling a large amount of genealogical information from a wide variety of sources on some 1,400 individuals who were associated with St. Mary's Church in Annapolis during the Civil War period. Most were local people, black and white, slaves and slave-holders, but there also were many soldiers from the training camps, parole camps, and army hospitals. Come hear him discuss his findings and methodology.

Dr. Worden retired from the research staff of the Library of Congress and has served as historian for St. Mary's Church, Annapolis since 1982. In 2003 he published "A Sesquicentennial History" and is currently writing the history of the church's activities during the Civil War.
