Heritage Frederick (previously known as the Historical Society of Frederick County) is a nonprofit educational organization dedicated to increasing public awareness and appreciation of the history of Frederick County. The Society collects and preserves artifacts and documents for study and education, and welcomes the participation of people of all ages in sharing informative and engaging experiences that will encourage them to discover and appreciate their heritage.

The Garrett County Historical Society and Dailey's Park offer a glimpse into the diverse past of the Deep Creek Lake area. The county's rich history includes: the world's most lavish hotels, Civil and World War involvement, Native Americans, brave pioneers and hunters, German settlers, the coal, farming and timber industries, and great American visionaries.

The Historical Society of Harford County, Inc. is an organization whose mission is to collect, preserve, present, promote, and interpret the rich and diverse history of the County area, in its regional context, from its prehistoric origins to the present.

The library of the Howard County Historical Society houses a rich research collection of books, journals, and documents featuring local history and genealogy. The library is Howard County's official archive of retired documents of historical value, including deeds and marriage licenses. Since there was no waiting period in Howard County between issuing a marrriage license and tying the knot, couples came from far and wide to marry there. The Historical Society of Kent County, Maryland, is dedicated to the collection and preservation of artifacts, documents, and information that aid in the interpretation of all aspects of Kent County's history.

Montgomery History strives to highlight the role of history as a vital part of the cultural and social fabric of Montgomery County. Since its founding in 1944, the organization has moved from an all volunteer organization to one boasting over 1,400 members, a professional staff, and hundreds of supportive and dedicated volunteers.

Founded in l952, the Prince George's County Historical Society works to fulfill its mission of preserving and promoting the County's long and diverse history through reproducing new and out-of-print historical materials, collecting records, documents, photographs, and artifacts reflecting the County's social, economic and political history, operating the Frederick S. DeMarr Library of County History, providing educational opportunities through lectures, programs and tours, and recognizing and supporting individuals and organizations that are making significant contributions to the preservation of the County's rich multi-ethnic, multi-cultural heritage.

The mission of the Queen Anne's County Historical Society is to discover, preserve and disseminate knowledge of history with special emphasis on the County and the state of Maryland. Founded in 1960, the society owns two historic homes, built in the 1700's. Both are restored and furnished with period furniture and collections.

The St. Mary's County Historical Society, which was established in 1951, strives to identify, collect, and preserve materials of any kind related to the history of this area.

The Somerset County Historical Society provides leadership to the county's residents and the general public in the preservation and exploration of the county's shared history The Society utilizes its resources, including the Teackle Mansion and its collections, and the historical resources of the county as a whole, as the catalysts to create personal connections to the past. The Society collects, preserves, and documents the county's historical assets and provides a variety of stimulating educational programs and initiatives.
