GeneaNet

GeneaNet is a great Web site for those with French ancestors. Launched in 1996, about two million members share more than 400 million entries for free in their Online Family Trees, Archival Records, Indexes, Family Pictures and Postcards. Numerous features are available to help genealogists in their research. The site offers free basic membership, plus a subscription Club Privilege that offers many extended search features. The subscription service includes the ability to download images of original documents from extensive civil and church records in France. Many members have uploaded searchable family trees that extend from France to the USA and all parts of the world. The site accepts US members and credit cards and can be viewed in English. The original records and many members are French, so some knowledge of the language is helpful, but not necessary.
